Copywriting’s cult favourite
Running the gamut from chic to freak
Hey! I’m Emma, and I’m going to discourage you from reading this page.
If you go any further, you might be tempted to do something you’ve always wanted to. Like breaking out of your stiff corporate tone of voice or rolling out a marketing campaign that makes you (gulp) stand out from your peers.
It’s scary shit. Continue if you dare!
If you’re still reading this, you’re probably A) searching for a writer adept at grit and sass; B) wanting a partner directly from the alternative community (they can spot fakery a mile away); or C) looking for a guide into the realm of ‘sheer audacity’...whatever that may look like for you.
And I’m her 😌
Boring stuff first: I have over 13 years of industry know-how, a Master’s in Creative and Professional Writing, and plenty of experience with heavyweight brands. Fun stuff: I run my own occult music and arts zine (see below), have an extensive taxidermy collection, and star in music videos for fun.
Jot Jot Boom is a sex-positive, death-positive, LGBTQIA+-friendly business.

What my clients say…
“Emma has done a great job on Virgin Trains and Eastpak. She is great at adjusting to the different brands tone of voice when creating content, whether that be blog posts or on page copy. She is always on hand to make any necessary amendments the client asks for. Her work is always reliable and great quality and she is lovely to work with.”
— TORI CARLISLE, FORMER CONTENT STRATEGIST AT CROUD
“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Emma – from our perspective, she is one of the most talented, responsive and reliable copywriters we have had the pleasure to work with. Copywriters of her calibre are few and far between. She’s like gold dust!”
— DAN RAMIREZ, FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR, RULE OF THREE
“Emma is one of a very few people that we trust to always hit the mark and the deadline.”
— JASON VAN ZWANENBURG, COPY DIRECTOR AT LIME CREATIVE
earwyrm zine
In addition to being a kickass writer, marketer, and strategist, I also run earwyrm, an occult music and arts zine.
I had the idea after Witchology Magazine went on hiatus, leaving me with an occult music editor-shaped hole in my life. I decided to make something of my own—an independent publication that gave makers and musicians space to discuss how their art and occult beliefs intersect. A place for the occult community to submit their own art, writing, and book recommendations, and try their hand at DIY projects.
earwyrm is a true test of my skills on all levels — I pull together the editorial plan for each quarterly issue, contact and liaise with the talent, conduct and write the interviews, design the layouts by hand, and market it.
Since launch, earwyrm has sold at The Satanic Flea Market, Good Press, Crypt of the Wizard, and various independent occult shops. I’ve interviewed folk linocut artist Richard Wells, Glaswegian doom band Cwfen, Australian atmospheric metal band Suldusk, and tons more.
