3 examples of brands that utterly SMASH their email marketing

Is your email marketing all me, me, me? Is it all promotions, sales, buy, buy, buy? Worse yet…is it nonexistent? Never fear, my peach. I’m here with three examples of brands that utterly smash email marketing. Like, totally make it their bitch.
All three examples are from my very own inbox, so you know they’re good (because I don’t suffer fools when it comes to marketing of any kind). Keep reading and find the inspiration you need to turn your email marketing from ‘blah’ to ‘yah.’
1. Only Curls
A small, female-founded brand, Only Curls, relies on repeat purchases of its curly-hair products. They know they’ve gotta keep their buyers engaged, and they do that by issuing helpful content every week. Like so…
Not only have they given me info on using the products I’ve already purchased so I can get maximum benefit from them, but I’ve also been introduced to new techniques, routines, and different ways to preserve and revive my curls. Their long-form, informative emails are part of a much larger content plan that explores every facet of curly-haired life. There’s no stone they’ve left unturned, and I’m 100% here for it.
2. The Elven Smith
Okay, okay — full disclosure here. I may be slightly biased towards Elise of The Elven Smith because I helped her design her email marketing strategy. But, but, but she’s the one who’s written each email. She’s the one who stuck to the plan. She’s the one who sent ‘em! So, credit where it’s due, yeah?
What I love about Elise’s emails is that she fully explores her products and regularly connects them back to their inspiration — fantasy books, games, and films. She’s out here giving ‘how-to-wear’ inspiration, urging people through to her site for the full tea (because that’s where we want ‘em!), she’s giving stories, and inspiration. Useful stuff!
Elise regularly emails about new, exclusive product drops. Because all her pieces are handmade, you don’t want to risk missing out because you didn’t open an email.
3. The Natural Love Company
Might be exposing myself (oi oi) with this one, but I’ve gotta give flowers to the brands who deserve ‘em, and The Natural Love Company is one of those.
Like the other two brands on this list, TNLC uses email marketing to inform, engage, and maintain a connection. The best way to do this is to give the customer information that they want to read, which means understanding them, what they like, what they believe, and why they buy from your brand.
TNLC know their customers are invested in sexual health and wellness. They understand that their customers are adventurous and enjoy trying new things. They also like to learn and hold artistic beauty in high regard. And that leads us to emails like this…
There are ten other tips to this bad boy, btw. Needless to say, every time one of their emails hits my inbox, I’m all over it. And I’m someone who hates being sold to. TNLC have made a repeat customer out of me because their products and comms neatly tick every box — sustainably and thoughtfully made, gorgeous to look at, and come with a healthy serving of sexual wellness education. Love them. Naturally.
