LinkedIn for lurkers: how to show up, show off, and generate business leads
Everyone hates LinkedIn. It’s a simple fact of business; showing up to post on a platform populated by hustle bros, dry-ass company posts, and ‘this isn’t Facebook’ Boomers. It’s not cute, and the process can feel painful in so many ways.
As luck would have it, I’ve found a way around the discomfort and cringe (and generated some sick business leads while I’m at it), so gobble up this three-minute read and learn how.
Curate your network
Hate LinkedIn’s toxic users? Get rid of them, hun! Make liberal use of the block, delete, and mute buttons and start filling your network with businesses and people that inspire and excite you. Fill it with people you’d like to work with! It’ll make signing in feel more rewarding, posting becomes less daunting, and you’re helping the right people find you.
Make a post pipeline
The reason it’s so hard to post consistently on LinkedIn is because you’re trying to start from scratch every time. And some days, the inspo isn’t flowing as freely as you’d like. This is why we’ll use the info we’ve whipped up about our brand to create a post pipeline — a list of ideas all geared towards promoting your services, amplifying your brand, and showing the direct benefit of booking/buying with you. This’ll make it easier to show up consistently (which the LinkedIn algo loves) and write posts that actually do something for you.
Always include a call to action
A post without a call to action is just a shout into the void. It’s pointless and a waste of an opportunity (especially if you’ve written something killer that gets a ton of engagement). Don’t forget to add a relevant call to action at the end of your posts, be it an invitation to DM, subscribe, book, or learn more. You’ve hooked ‘em; now close the deal!
Show up every day (even if you don’t post)
LinkedIn loves it when you log in every day and engage with the platform, which is why I personally build LinkedIn time into my daily schedule. I hop on each morning to help ease myself into the working day. Although I only post twice a week as a general rule, I try to engage with people from my network by leaving thoughtful comments and resharing the stuff I’d like to amplify to my network. Not every day is a posting day!
