Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it’ll do wonders for your creativity. November’s tarot card is a prompt to focus on new and exciting sources of inspiration. Before we give this sword-lovin’ chap our attention, let’s cast back over the last 28 days…

Last month’s card: The Five of Wands

For the first time in freelance focus history, we pulled a pretty tricky card. The Five of Wands signifies competition and conflict. Not cute at the best of times, let alone in a business context.

This card warned against self-comparison in the month of October. Did you catch yourself feeling covetous or less-than? Hopefully you managed to turn yourself around!

The Five of Wands stands for diversity and warring opinions. There’s a good chance you caught yourself being drawn into a social media issue or a clash of wills at some point. Your challenge was to find harmony amid the chaos and move forward with positivity.

So, how did you get on? Find me on Twitter and let me know!

How it went for me

Yes, I was tested in October. After months of warning one particular client that their slapdash briefs and unrealistic turnarounds would cause substandard work…it did. And I was mad about it.

No one likes to be put in a position where they can’t feel good about the quality of their work and the temptation to stew on it was real. But I took a deep breath and released it — what’s done is done. I wasn’t going to let this one thing take over my weekend. Next time, I’ll push for better communication.

November’s card: The Valet of Swords

Meet the Valet of Swords — he’s a keen bean, brimming with energy and enthusiasm. A good guy to have around if you’re a freelance creative, that’s for sure.

The Valet of Swords is a communication card, so if you’ve been toying with the idea of trying a new writing style, launching a podcast, or starting a newsletter, now might be the time!

November looks like a good time to start new projects, both personal and professional. This energetic chap is on-hand to propel you through the exploratory stage. Remember — it’s easy to make mistakes when trying something new, so don’t be put off.

You might consider this card your final burst of energy before winding down for the year in December, so take your cue and run with it. Looks like the cards are in your favour!

Whadda ya think? Come and find me on Twitter and lemme know!
